My New Dell Inspiron PC

I just bought a new Dell PC for the home. It’s been 10 years since I’ve done that. That’s right, TEN years. My old computer is a Micron 266MHz box with 20G of memory. It’s slow compared to today’s standards, but it was a top-notch machine back in 1997. All I use it for these days is Quicken and some random surfing.
As usual, I’m having a bit of buyer’s remorse. I hated spending the money, but I had to make the purchase since much of my data and many of my apps are stored on my work laptop. I need to get my personal stuff off of there.
But, the reason I don’t like spending money on things like this is there is little to no return on the investment. For the most part, my new computer is going to sit idle for most of the day. I use it for Quicken once a week or so, and I’ll probably use it to work on this site, but otherwise, it’s a non-working asset.
Maybe I should sign up for the Seti@home project….at least I’d know my PC is being used.
